Look for two special issues of the journal Fathering on Men, Work and Parenting (co-edited by Linda Haas and Margaret O’Brien) in November 2010 and May 2011.

Other recent publications on comparative perspectives on fatherhood, families and comparative social policies:

Fathering Across Diversity and adversity: international perspectives and policy interventions

The Politics of Parental Leave Policies

The Globe and Mail recently published an excellent series on Work-Life Balance for Mothers and Fathers and the importance of fathers take up of parental leave.

Would you like to mention or review this book?

Equally Shared Parenting: Rewriting the Rules for a New Generation of Parents, by Marc and Amy Vachon. Foreword by Lisa Belkin, New York Times. Penguin – Perigee, 2010. ISBN 9780399535581

I and my wife each worked half time for 11 years while our daughters were young. A number of our stories, along with many other parents’ accounts of their way of achieving balance in parenting, homemaking, and work, are in the book.

I’m enjoying your blog.

Carl-
I will be in Saskatchewan at the end of March giving the annual Sorokin Lecture! I hope you might be there. It would be great to meet.
I have the Vachon’s book on my spring reading list. I definitely do want to review or or write about it here. Thanks for the reminder!
And thanks for checking out this site. Please feel free to sign on to bread and roses for updates.

I will be looking for stories to post late this spring so I may be in touch then. All the best – Andrea
